My First Post

I decided to start a blog about my journey as a mother. I'll just post about my daily doings and whatnot - struggles, adventures, etc. I regret not journaling during my pregnancy which inspired me to start this one. It's not for anyone but me so just move along if you think this is boring. ;)

Today is off to a great start! I've actually been able to get a couple things done. I finished a photo book that I started making of Ainsley's 1st month. (It should arrive in 6 days.) I plan to make one each month for a while. I know it seems like that is a lot, but I just couldn't delete any of the pics. :) They are all so precious.

After fixing myself a toasted bagel and yogurt, I put Ainsley in her bouncer. I put it in high gear and was running around the kitchen doing as much as I could - I got the dishwasher full and started, the trash in the trashcan, and almost got tonight's meal in the crockpot before she got fussy. I was so close to being done that I made the decision to let her fuss until I finished. I tried to entertain her by singing loudly, but it didn't work. :) Anyway... she's happy now and so am I.

I'm so surprised at how much I want to be everything for this little girl. The nurse at the doctor's office asked me if she was in daycare yesterday. Although different things work for different people, I just could not leave my little baby at this point. I want to be the one to teach her new things each day. Thank you, God, for blessing me with a job that I can do from home. I'm so excited about this new chapter in my life.

  1. My sweet niece,

When I saw your email this morning, saying you'd started a "mommy" blog, I let out a little whoop. Yay!

Back in the day (before you married), you and I used to blog together in another blogging community and it was so nice to keep up with you, even though we live just minutes apart. :)

Now, you have beautiful Ainsley Brielle, a new chapter in your life. I know everybody told you while you were preganant (probably enough to make you wish they'd hush) that life would never be the same after you have a baby, and you've discovered that already. God put something inside a mother's heart to nurture and teach and, as you put it, "be everything" for their children.

I could picture you running around the kitchen, trying to get it all done. I remember those days so well, and I couldn't help but remember watching your mother running around her kitchen, with you on her hip. She learned to do most anything with one arm. LOL! Oh, the things we do for our babies.

I'm glad I'm a small part of Ainsley's life, and, Lord willing, I look forward to watching her grow into the beautiful young woman that you are.

Welcome back to blogland! I'm a follower (of course!) and I promise not to post a novel on your subsequent posts. Just wanted to give you a proper welcome back. (hehe)

    Much love,
    Aunt Dayle

  2. Two aunts in a row commenting. Imagine that. And they kinda look alike, too.

I'm so HAPPY you're blogging now. There are so many special moments as a new mom, and if you don't write them down, you'll forget so many of them.

I kept a journal during my pregnancy and wrote in it regularly until Leslie was in elementary school. When she turned 18 or so, I gave it to her. She enjoys seeing herself through my eyes, and Ainsley will enjoy seeing herself through yours.

You have quickly become a great little mother. Ainsely is angelic, and so blessed to have you and Shawn as parents. I hope to weave a small spot just for me in her heart as she grows.

Of course, I'm following your blog, too. Although I don't have near as much time as most to blog these days. With your mom being miles away, I'm betting she joins blogland and follows right along with us.

Keep the pictures coming. I love them every one!

    Hugs,
    Aunt Gayle

  3. And of course, who else to follow your twin aunts other than your "step" aunt who is the proud mother of twins?! :)

I'll keep this post brief and simply say that it's been an amazing and beautiful thing to see how Ainsley, your tiny angel baby, has brought to the surface all these nurturing and maternal instincts that were tucked away inside you just waiting for the moment to come forth. And come forth they have! I love it! I LOL'd when I read the part where you said you decided to let her fuss so you could finish what you were doing. It's hard, isn't it? Of course, later it's easy to reflect & say, "nah...it didn't hurt them....why...it's good for them to cry for a while!" But, when you're in the moment, it sure doesn't feel that way. Their tiny cry is heartbreaking. I still remember! :)

I love you tons! I'm very proud of you and Shawn, and have no doubt whatsoever that you'll both make wonderful & loving parents.
